I became a (pukka) RD fan in the summer of 1995. I realised that most of my favourite old tunes where composed by one person called RD Burman. Ever since I have not stopped searching for him through his music. He died with so many tunes in his eternal sleep and did not receive the recognition when he was alive. The great aspects of RD Burman's music was his fantastic range of melodies, great awareness of western music and his effective use of sweeping background orchestra music ( I still listen to a majority of his songs, waiting for the musical interludes). When he combined with Gulzar, the result was unforgettable tunes that are still listened to today. Pancham still lives on with his music. |
